Life is not what you see,
But what you've projected.
It's not what you've felt,
But what you've decided.
It's not what you've experienced,
But how you've remembered it.
It's not what you've forged,
But what you've allowed.
It's not who's appeared,
But who you've summoned.
And it not where you've been,
But where you are going,
And this should serve you well, beloved,
Until you find what you already have.

3. ABUNDANCE SWAP & LADIES SOCIAL
-----------------------------------------------------
SUNDAY, JUNE 1
12:30 pm - 2:30 pm
We all have them... clothes that still have the tags on them that we're hoping to fit into "some day" and that are just too cute to throw out (gently used is okay too) ... maybe a candlestick holder or knickknack that a friend gave you that isn't you or doesn't go with your decor... or a favorite book or CD ... maybe a fragrance or cosmetic that you no longer like or use ... a purse that doesn't match anything you have... of course, any kind of yoga gear works too... All those THINGS - the "GOOD stuff" - that's just taking up space. Why don't we get together with all our "stuff" and swap...?
Here's how it'll work... Clean out your closets, gather your GOOD stuff (no junk please). Bring your stuff with you on Sunday and after we snack, we'll take turns picking each others things. We'll all go home with some new treasures (if not, at least we cleaned out our closets!)... and whatever's left over, we'll donate to a local charity. Come make some new friends! Feel free to bring a friend or family member. (Please note that this invitation is reserved for our students and is not open to the general public.)
$5 for pizza. Beverages provided. Sign-up sheet is in the Lounge area

4. THE PATH OF DEVOTION IN RELATIONSHIP
A Dharma Talk By Tenshin Reb Anderson
-----------------------------------------------------
FRIDAY, JUNE 6
7:30 pm
The evening will offer teachings and be open to dialogue around issues of devotion, boundary setting and intimacy, balanced assertion, and upright surrender as a path of peace and harmony together in this world.
Biography of Tenshin Reb Anderson: Reb Anderson completed advanced study in mathematics and psychology at the University of Minnesota. Inspired by the great skillfulness and compassion exemplified in stories of Zen monks, he went to practice and train with Shunryu Suzuki Roshi at the San Francisco Zen Center. He was ordained by Suzuki Roshi as a priest in 1970.
After serving as Abbot of San Francisco Zen Center form 1986 to 1995, he became Senior Dharma Teacher. He is still involved with overseeing practice at San Francisco Zen Center's three locations. He trains lay practitioners, monks and priests and leads practice periods with intensive focus on the everyday practice of meditation, work and study. He is particularly interested in Buddhist psychology and the fundamental intimacy of the practice of seated meditation with all aspects of our lives. Reb lives with family and friends at Green Dragon Temple/Green Gulch Farm. He is the author of "Warm Smiles from Cold Mountain," a collection of his talks that is published by the San Francisco Zen Center, and "Being Upright," published by Rodmell Press, which examines the unity of the Bodhisattva precepts and Zen meditation.
Advanced Reservation: $20. (A donation basket for the teacher will be available also). For reservation, please call (916) 484-YOGA or email Lori@MyYogaLounge.com.

This class will continue to be offered weekly through the month of April. However, effective May 4 this class will change to be ONCE a month (the first Sunday of each month) and will be 1.5 hours.
INTRO TO MEDITATION (all levels/abilities)
First Sunday of each month: 6:30 - 8:00 pm
With Tatiana
This class introduces you to the practice of meditation - which can be used as a practice on its own - or during your hatha yoga practice. You'll learn how to use the breath to quiet the mind and direct your energies to raise your awareness. In the classical yoga tradition, hatha yoga [the practice of asanas or postures] is practiced as preparation for seated meditation. Therefore, gentle asanas/postures are included in this class in order to prepare the body for the more contemplative practices of the tradition. (Please note that no registration is needed, just show up a few minutes before start time.) ALL LEVELS AND ABILITIES WELCOME.
Benefits of Meditation:
- Relieve stress and anxiety - learn how to relax
- Get in touch with your emotions (helps decreases depression and irritability)
- Promotes pain management - reduces acute and chronic pain levels (especially helpful for women during childbirth)
- Become more compassionate and content - live a fuller, richer life
- Promotes greater creativity
- Discovery of personal and spiritual growth
- Improves ability to focus and concentrate (great for other activities - running, golfing, biking, etc)
- Improves quality of sleep
- Decreases muscle tension and headaches
- Enhances immune system
- Stay engaged during your asana practice

8. PRIVATES SESSIONS / INSTRUCTION
with Lori Moore, R.Y.T., owner of MYL
-----------------------------------------------------
The study of yoga began as a dialogue between teacher and student (one-on-one). At My Yoga Lounge we honor that tradition by offering private yoga instruction (private sessions).
WHY PRIVATE INSTRUCTION?
* Learn yoga from the ground up in a private setting. (Great for those brand new to yoga or for those who'd like to review the basics.)
* Get assistance for your specific injury, limitation, or special need - learn modifications (how to adapt postures for your ability and body type or condition.
* Work on specific tight areas, such as hips, hamstrings, shoulders, back/neck - or develop core strength.
* Intermediate and advanced students can receive instruction on a specific posture or technique.
* Develop a personal practice that is complimentary to your other activities and sports - improve your focus and concentration.
* Practice at a time that is not currently offered on our schedule - or in the convenience of your own home (rates slightly higher).
* Learn how to meditate (or how to deepen your existing meditation practice) with specific breathing techniques that bring energy, calmness, and balance to your practice and to your life
Private sessions are currently available with Lori Monday through Friday (mornings/afternoons) as well as some weekends (at the studio or in your home/office). To schedule a session, please contact Lori directly at (916) 600-6557.
30 minutes = $40
60 minutes = $65
90 minutes = $90
* Discount provided for multiple bookings or for on-going private sessions.
* Rates for Semi-Private Sessions are the same plus $10 for each additional student.
* In-home session prices are slightly higher (depends on distance/mileage).

9. MYL TEACHER'S TRAINING PROGRAM
With Lori Moore
-----------------------------------------------------
Please contact Lori at (916) 600-6557 if you're interested in participating in the next special training session.
My Yoga Lounge offers a 200-hour training program for students who want to develop skills to teach others in classical Hatha Yoga. This program is designed to deepen one's understanding and practice of yoga, and may also be taken by those who are not necessarily intending to become yoga instructors. Many students pursue teacher training not because they want to teach, but because they love yoga and want to learn more. We'll learn, play, and teach together in a relaxed yet focused way. (This course will build on whatever form of yoga you've been training or practicing in.)
Our program is offered mostly on the weekends allowing students to complete their training while accommodating career and family commitments. While there are some programs that train teachers in less time than ours, we feel that a longer program gives student-teachers an opportunity to integrate what they've learned. (There is no substitute for having the time to put into practice what you are learning!) More information is available at the studio as well as on our website www.MyYogaLounge.com. (The brochure and application form is available on-line.)
ABOUT LORI: Lori Moore is the owner and founder of My Yoga Lounge, Sacramento's premier yoga studio. Formally trained in the Ashtanga yoga tradition, Lori has studied with Ashtanga yoga master David Swenson, Vinyasa teacher Seane Corn, and Shannon Wells. Additional teachers who've inspired and guided her along the yogic path include Shiva Rea, Ana Forrest, Erich Schiffmann, as well as many others. Ultimately, teachers come and go, and while she's studied with many remarkable, in fact extraordinary, teachers, she recognizes the greatest teacher of all is the one inside - the one that lives in your heart; the one that knows what's right for you, is the one that fundamentally remains. That is the teacher she hopes to awaken in each of her students - their own inner guru.
Lori blends her experience, knowledge, and passion for teaching into a non-dogmatic style that translates into her own eclectic style of teaching and brings yoga to our community in an environment that's both supportive and nurturing to ALL physical levels and abilities. She enjoys teaching classes that are energetic, playful, and exploratory - working with students to help them develop their own personal and unique connection to the practice of yoga, both on and off the mat. Her intention is to help guide students in using yoga as a vehicle for healing, in body, mind, and spirit, while connecting to their Source, the Divine that is within us all. Besides teaching yoga, Lori is a certified Transformation Meditation teacher. She is registered with Yoga Alliance and is a member of the Sacramento Yoga Instructors' Network. She teaches on-going classes at My Yoga Lounge, leads workshops and retreats, trains yoga teachers, and also teaches students privately.

11. MESSAGES FROM THE UNIVERSE
-----------------------------------------------------
Try these JOY Exercises
1.) PRACTICE PATIENCE: When life is moving slower than your expectations, take a deep breath, trust, and believe in yourself, keep the faith! The world operates on divine timing!
2.) DEVELOP AN OPEN MIND: When you're in an energy struggle or power struggle with someone, whether it's in the corporate world or your personal life, step out of the situation (take a walk, shower, meditate, breathe, practice yoga). Put yourself in the position of "seeing" the world from their shoes. Visualize sending them love and knowing that we all evolve in our perfect divine time. Keep your heart pure without any judgment, knowing their path is perfect for them, as yours is perfect for you. Thank this person (either verbally or silently) for allowing you this opportunity to grow deeper within your heart.
3.) ACKNOWLEDGEMENT: Acknowledge yourself for the gifts you bring to the world, (i.e. pure heart, gentleness, authenticity, healing, kindness, encouragement, joyfulness, playfulness, patience, love, compassion, inspiration, humor, courage, strength, generosity etc). Look in the mirror, and say out loud... I LOVE and accept myself. I am (insert your talent here)! Claim your gifts. And then listen for the loud voice screaming back to you, "YES YOU ARE!" Communicate to your spouse, partner, friend or children a special "essence" quality of how you feel about them today.
4.) GRATITUDE: Be grateful for the ability to smile and spread joy! When we verbalize our gratitude to the universe or other people, we are creating more of that in our life. What we focus on expands! When you first wake up in the morning, take a moment and start your day by being grateful for your body -- yes, ALL of it -- even your hips and gluts! Thank all the parts of your body lovingly for working so hard for you. Your body will react positively with great appreciation!
5.) GIVING: Next time you drive through a toll-booth, drive-through restaurant, or movie theatre, pay for the person behind you, or tell someone how amazing they are. These acts of kindness create immeasurable results; spreading more love in the world helps open hearts!
6.) FORGIVING: Forgive yourself right now for anything you're holding onto that doesn't serve your higher good in this present moment. Place all of your fears or worries in tiny bubbles, exhale them out and allow the universe to hold onto the bubbles for you. Have faith and let go!
7.) A LIST OF AMAZING PEOPLE: Create a list of amazing people in your life or anyone you think is/was amazing. Write down "why" you think they are amazing. These are clues of what your values are or what you already have inside you.
8.) A JOYFUL MOMENT: Close your eyes, and remember a time in your life that put a smile on your face. Allow that joy to bubble up and stay with you. Lock it inside your heart.
9.) PRAYER: Ask God, "How can I serve? How can I open my heart and be an instrument of peace? How can I help others feel good about themselves?" This is powerful!
10.) BE JOY: How much of what you do in your life is joyful? Is your life in integrity with your heart? Make a list of everything you enjoy speaking about, creating, and doing. Fill your life with those things!
11.) KIND THOUGHTS: Stop caring too much about what other people think about you. What others think really isn't your business. How you feel is your business! Breathe in your affirmations, and send blessings to others!
Live simply.
Love generously.
Care deeply.
Speak kindly.
Give freely.
Choose your reality.
Breathe out... let it go... leave the rest to God.

12. YOGA ETIQUETTE 101
-----------------------------------------------------
In order for everyone to have the best experience possible, please follow these simple guidelines when attending classes at the studio:
SIGNING-IN
* Visit the sign-in desk before class starts - signing in for every class is essential so that we can compensate our teachers accordingly
* If you store your card in our box, please get it out and hand it to whoever's behind the counter. (Put it back too)
* We keep track of attendance by computer; however, punch cards are provided (for your convenience and benefit) so that you know how many classes you have remaining on your current pass. To avoid discrepancies, be sure to get your card punched.
RESPECT FOR THE SPACE/STUDIO
* TURN OFF CELL PHONES and pagers BEFORE entering studio (better yet, leave them at home or in your car!)
* Remove shoes at the front door and stack them neatly on the shelves so that no one trips over them. If needed, once the shelf is full, they can spill onto the floor but please push them out of the way (or put them in the cubbies in the changing room). Removing your shoes not only keeps the studio clean, but also is representative of leaving the outside world behind
* Roll mats out quietly - avoid the ripping sound.
* Hot Tea is for your enjoyment BEFORE or AFTER class - NOT during (and NOT on the yoga floor). Remember, it's super hot, so please use two cups and a lid.
* When putting props away, please stack them neatly - place blankets with fringe in back - re-roll straps, etc. Return everything you took out and consider putting away something for your neighbor (good karma ;o)
* Consider bringing your own yoga mat - for hygienic AND energetic reasons. If using a studio mat, be sure to clean after class so that it's clean/sanitary for the next person (cleaning solution and green towels are near stereo - feel free to use our supplies to clean your mat)
* If you sweat a lot, please bring your own towel(s) and dry off the floor around you if you drip sweat onto the wood. Not only does it help keep our space clean, but it also helps protect our flooring. For obvious reasons, please do NOT use studio blankets, props, or eye-pillows without a towel if you are perspiring.
* If ever there's a problem or emergency, please don't hesitate to call Lori at 600-6557 - the number is also posted on our front door
CLASS ETIQUETTE
* Do your best to be on time - BUT, if late, try the back/side door. If it's open, enter QUIETLY (providing that it's unlocked) and WAIT in the lounge area until the teacher invites you in or until after opening meditation is over.
* If you need to leave early, inform the instructor BEFORE class and position yourself and your belongings toward the back of the room and leave quietly through the BACK door (if you leave without telling us, we may worry that you're injured, etc)
* Once we enter Savasana (final relaxation), please DO NOT get up and walk around. Make as little movement as possible and try to use the restroom BEFORE this quiet, still time.
* When waiting outside, please wait QUIETLY as there may be a class in session - Yes, we can hear you! If weather permits, consider waiting outside rather than coming in and disturbing the out-bound class's Savasana/final relaxation. You know what that's like!
* Move your mat to make space in crowded classes - we can always fit one more, and that one person might be you sometime ;o)
* Check your competitive side at the door - and try to remember, it's NOT about the poses!
* Take a moment to meet the person next to you - it improves the vibe and energy of the room - plus you'll make a new friend!
GUIDELINES
* Avoid eating a heavy meal 1-2 hours before class. A light snack (yogurt, fruit) is okay.
* Try not to overdress. A close-fitting tee-shirt or tank top is recommended. Avoid overly clothing if possible.
* If taking class from a teacher who is new to you, arrive early to inform them of any injuries/conditions. (If pregnant, have health concerns, or if you have a new injury, inform your teacher BEFORE class so modifications or variations can be offered to you)
* Feel free to bring your own bottle of water and towel
* Refrain from wearing perfumes, oils, body sprays and lotions - as many people are allergic and others get headaches (including some of our teachers)
* Please observe basic hygiene when attending yoga class - make sure feet are clean and fresh. There are baby wipes in the changing room. Use them if needed.
Thank you in advance for your cooperation!
