TEACHER'S TRAINING PROGRAM
with Lori Moore
My Yoga Lounge offers a 200-hour training program for students who want to develop skills to teach others in classical Hatha Yoga. This program is designed to deepen one's understanding and practice of yoga, and may also be taken by those who are not necessarily intending to become yoga instructors. Many students pursue teacher training not because they want to teach, but because they love yoga and want to learn more. We'll learn, play, and teach together in a relaxed yet focused way. (This course will build on whatever form of yoga you've been training or practicing in.)Our program is offered mostly on the weekends allowing students to complete their training while accommodating career and family commitments. While there are some programs that train teachers in less time than ours, we feel that a longer program gives student-teachers an opportunity to integrate what they've learned. (There is no substitute for having the time to put into practice what you are learning!) For more info check out the Teacher Training brochure and Teacher Training application form. If you have any questions, drop us a line.

Ashtanga Primary Series
A prescribed series of classic yoga postures interlinking movement with breath. Each pose is linked to the next through a series of connecting movements (called Vinyasa), allowing the body to create heat and leading to more flexibility. Smooth, deep breathing (ujjayi), gaze (dristi) and locks (bandhas) are introduced. This vigorous practice purifies and realigns the body, helping awaken and return the nervous system to its natural state. Plan to build heat, sweat, and gain strength and stamina from this flowing practice. Variations are offered for those that are newer to the practice. Based on the yoga tradition of Sri K. Pattabhi Jois. Moderate to Vigorous. (return to schedule)
Breathing Edge
Drawing from the Iyengar and Ashtanga traditions, this class teaches a complete and balanced yoga practice which builds strength, flexibility, and vitality, while cultivating a calm mind, open heart, and increased self-awareness. This blend of traditions i ntegrates breathwork, meditative attunement, and aligned postures to clarify, tone, and strengthen the mind-body-energy spectrum. An emphasis is placed on awakening awareness of the subtle flow of energy, breath, and attention. Moderate to Challenging (depending upon level). (return to schedule)
Breathing Room
Relax, renew, release, restore. A mini-retreat that quietly explores the nurturing combination of gentle movement, passive and supported yoga postures (using blankets and bolsters), and meditative breathing practices to soothe, calm, and heal the entire system. A fter becoming centered and aligned with your source, the class will begin with breathing practices (pranayama) – to help prepare the mind for meditation. We’ll then transition into a gentle 45 minute yoga asana practice followed by deep relaxation (to help prepare the body), and then proceed into a 15 to 30 minute meditation (guided or silent). Breathing Space offers a deeply nourishing environment of stillness in which to promote the natural process of healing – in body, mind, and spirit. Meditating in a group strengthens us as a community while fulfilling our personal intention for a deeper connection to the Divine as we experience our natural state of being within us. This special restorative meditation class is held monthly, the LAST Thursday of EACH month from 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm. Pre-registration is NOT required. No prior yoga or meditation experience necessary. (return to schedule)
The Deeper Edge
This unique class takes key elements of awareness, breath, and refined postures to deeper levels for enhancing strength, flexibility, and presence. In yoga, the “edge” is any physical or emotional sensation that is challenging, but not overwhelming – and everybody’s edge looks different. As we let go of thoughts and distractions, we slow down and listen to the body, easing our way closer and closer to that magical place… searching for the place between pleasure and pain, joy and sorrow, creation and destruction, openness and protection. When we arrive at our edge (it’s different for everyone), we balance there, feeling both worlds, feeling everything, and breathe. Come to your edge and be present with “what is” for you today. This is the lesson of the edge – to be exactly where we are and to honor that place. Moderate to Challenging. (return to schedule)
Easy-Does-It Yoga
This gentle approach to yoga is ideal for helping students experience the benefits of increased flexibility, improved circulation, and more energy while honoring physical limitations. Many of the poses are adapted to be performed with support – using a chair, a wall, the floor, or other props and are geared to suit a variety of skill levels, including those who are physically challenged due to age or illness. Students will learn to modify postures in order to stay within the safe limitations of their bodies. This class may include standing poses for those that are able, but these too will be adapted per student's needs. Easy-Does-It Yoga is appropriate for anyone with overall stiffness, weakness, chronic pain, who is overweight, or with limited range of motion. Also suitable for those with special conditions such as MS, Parkinson's, heart conditions, back pain, and pregnancy. This class is also recommended for anyone facing physical or emotional challenges, or for those seeking relief from stress. No experience needed. Gentle. Read more ... (.pdf)
